We are ecstatic to hear that this past weekend’s ‘71st Annual Golden Globe Awards‘ united environmentally conscious appetites with the glamour of the red carpet. In addition to the vegetarian likes of nominees Jessica Chastain, Joaquin Phoenix, and eco-conscious award winner Leonardo DiCaprio, the main menu served to attendees was abundant with meat-free appetizers and locally sourced ingredients. Like this first course: “grilled eggplant with sun-dried tomatoes, pine nuts and hummus on seared tomato; a mini sweet pepper with feta cheese, pomegranate, herbs and California olive oil on grilled pita; and a grilled artichoke on multigrain tabbouleh and tahini”, yummy! As stated by Golden Globe sous chef Chris O’Connell, “The days of [dull] boiled vegetables and steamed spinach are over”. We want to see even greater concious menus flourishing within the film festival and award circuits, and: why not? These menus are resourceful, delicious and glamorous too!
