Foreign film industries have taken a great interest in the practical approach that Dutch producers, and the Green Filmmaking Project have been taking on; in bringing sustainable innovation to the film practise. And Mexico’s professionals in particular, have been eyeing The Green Filmmaking Project as a lucrative example within the field. This is why Chai Locher (GFMP, Project Leader) and Wiendelt Hooijer (GFMP, Project Coordinator) were asked to host a workshop on the ‘Dutch approach’ to green filmmaking, during Mexico’s ECOFILM Festival in 2013. And this year they were asked to follow-up by participating as international jury members for the 2014 festival.

As members of the jury panel -which includes other international filmmakers and experts in the field of environment- Chai and Wiendelt have evaluated the production value of the films entered, as well as the way in which the filmmakers have tackled this year’s theme of ‘Solid Waste’. The winner of the competition received a cash prize.
